Werribee Open Range Zoo

Despite the zoo not being within walking distance of the city centre, the open range zoo attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. The zoo opened its doors in 1983 and is African-themed. It hosts animals that would normally be encountered on safaris, like giraffes, antelopes and meercats. The zoo is structured so guests can feel as if they were on a safari with bus rides into the ”Savana”. Moreover, structured like an African village, the zoo allows guests to educate themselves on living in the most rural parts of Africa while walking the various trails.
