Queen Victoria Market

Covering 17 acres in Melbourne’s central business district, the Victoria Market is the air market’s largest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere. The Market was built in stages in the 1860s and opened to the public in 1878. The Market is the last commercial complex still actively trading from the Victorian era. It is a significant attraction for visitors and attracts over 10 million visitors annually. The Market is divided into the Western side, built-in 1841 and the Eastern side, which was built in the last 1840’s1840’s. The latter being the most popular.
