Brisbane City Botanic Gardens

These Botanic Gardens are located on Alice Street. This used to be part of the penal colony and then got turned into beautiful gardens in 1855. Strolling along the grass and through the trees, you can see the ruins of the dreaded Petrie Terrace Gaol, a decorated drinking fountain, the old Curator’s Cottage, the bear pit from the time of the Brisbane zoo, and the old brass band pavilion. Pine and fig trees, Fern Island, Macadamia and Tamarind, and majestic blue gum trees– can you imagine a more peaceful and beautiful place to relax in? There is even a playground and duck pond for the kids!
