Queen Victoria Building

A feast for the history buffs, the architecturally splendid Queen Victoria Building (QVB) is a five-level shopping centre located on Sydney’s George Street. A trip to QVB is like experiencing a first-hand account of resilience, culture and development. Opened in 1898 to honour the monarch’s diamond jubilee, the grand building soon transformed into a busy marketplace complete with warehouses, showrooms, coffee shops and concert halls. Refurbishments and remodelling kept happening for over a century and today you can walk in the structure with a mighty dome, peek through glorious stained-glass windows and shop from over 180 of the city’s finest fashion boutiques, and jewellery stores surrounded by delightful cafes and restaurants.
